Local: Nease, Menendez cruise in boys basketball

Jon Berens hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 21 points as Nease topped Baker County 62-51 in boys basketball. He also had six rebounds and four assists.

Denzell Hayden followed with 18 points, while Blake McClain had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers (14-6).

Menendez 67, Esprit de Corps 40

Nine different players connected from behind the arc as Menendez stomped Esprit de Corps.

Carlos Singleton paced the Falcons with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tityus Mitchell and Dakota Dodson each tallied nine points as 12 players scored for Menendez (8-12).

FSDB 51, Louisiana School for the Deaf 16

Justin Upson scored 19 points to lead the Dragons to a dominating win in the Mason-Dixon tournament.

John Dellatto and Dakota Kalis each chipped in with eight points for FSDB (8-6).

St. Joseph 46, Interlachen 43

The Flashes scored the game's final nine points to pull out a win against Interlachen.

OJ Williams, who scored half of the team's points with 23, made the game-winning lay up with less than a minute remaining.

Jacob Gaetanos added 10 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks. Matheus Menezes tallied 11 points and nine rebounds for St. Joseph (14-9).

Girls basketball

Briana Maxwell poured in 16 points to lead a well-balanced St. Augustine past Menendez 45-35.

Ajanai Edwards added eight points and Leandra Franklin tacked on six points. St. Augustine improved to 20-5.

For the Falcons (10-12), Tiesha Flagler led the way with 25 points. Morgan Musselwhite was next with seven points.

Mandarin 51, Creekside 46

Creekside fell to 13-12 with a narrow loss to Mandarin.

The Knights jumped out to an 18-11 lead after the first quarter but couldn't hold off the Mustangs.

Lindsay Stevens had 12 points. Jeanie Verderese and Tiffany Allen contributed nine points apiece.

Bartram 68, Wolfson 42

All of Bartram's players scored in a win over Wolfson.

Melissa Coggins hit five 3-pointers and notched 18 points to lead the way. Allie Mano tossed in 15 points and Rachel Karlovich had 13 for the Bears (17-6).

Nease 66, Bradford 19

Sam Paczkowski scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds as Nease trampled Bradford.

The Panthers led 49-17 at halftime. Jada Harris tacked on 16 points and seven rebounds. Niki Perez had 12 points, six assists and six rebounds. Olivia Bence tallied seven points and eight rebounds. The Panthers improved to 13-10.

Atlantic Coast 62, St. Joseph 55

Cassidy Bailey scored 27 points in a losing effort for the Flashes. Heather Volk tacked on 11 points and Jackie George contributed nine.

Women's college basketball

Flagler dropped to 2-16 with a 61-49 loss to Valdosta State.

Jen Knurek scored 15 points and tallied 10 rebounds.

Taye'Lor Trotter added 15 points and Treva Mason scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
