Heather Astle, D, Cardinal Gibbons senior: Two-year varsity captain had 4 goals, 7 assists, including tying goal in regional finals against our rival, American Heritage, which shifted the momentum for Chiefs to win the game; most proud of being a team captain of the first girls soccer team to win state championship in school history.
Deborah Bien-Aime, D, Cardinal Gibbons senior: Team captain tallied 7 goals, 2 assists in her second season on varsity; scored game winner in the regional semifinals against American Heritage; most proud of winning state title.
Francesca Brito, F, Pembroke Pines Charter senior: Florida International University signee scored 13 goals and 5 assists for Jaguars; team captain has been on varsity for 5 years; top goal scorer for past two seasons (35 goals total); most proud of beating the state champions, Cardinal Gibbons, 1-0 at the beginning of the season.
Kimmy Cover, D, Archbishop McCarthy senior: Played 21 games, logging 1,569 minutes; shut-down defender and captain had 1 assist. Career highlight came in 2020 when they won school’s first ever state championship. Committed to Brown University
Leah Finkelman, MF, North Broward Prep sophomore: Started every game and scored team-leading 19 goals and 10 assists in 15 games; school record-holder for most points (11) in a single game; NBP’s leading goal scorer second year in a row and scored game-tying goal in the finals to help lead Eagles to their second consecutive district title
Sophia Goetz, F, Archbishop McCarthy junior: Helped Mavericks to state runner-up finish by scoring 12 goals, 1 assist; was leading goal scorer in freshman and junior years (injured sophomore year); scored on a diving header with 2 minutes left against Westminster to win the game.
Savannah Hydes, MF, American Heritage junior: Started on varsity since her eighth-grade year; was team’s leading goal scorer (5) and assists leader (7) for the Patriots this year; “I am proud of my ability to lead the team this year as a captain. With all of the uncertainties because of COVID, we were still able to perform well as a team and overcome many obstacles.”
Liliana Katz, MF, Archbishop McCarthy senior: Team captain scored 8 times, 5 assists; 3-time district champ, 4-time regional champs, 3 consecutive state final appearances, and 2020 state champs; most proud of being able to win our third consecutive district championship and appearing in the state final for the third year in a row.
Lilly Nava, F, Westminster sophomore: Team co-captain and third-year varsity player scored 12 goals; said making state semifinals for a second straight year was the season highlight;
Sydney Polivka, F, Cardinal Gibbons junior: 2020 Sun Sentinel small-schools player of the year had 10 goals, 3 assists for state champion Chiefs, including goal to ice state title game with 3 minutes left; also runs cross country.
Ashley Small, GKP, Pine Crest, freshman: Played 12 games and allowed 1 goal with 11 shutouts and a 0.087 GAA; most proud of earning a shutout to give Panthers its first district title since 2016; also plays varsity lacrosse.

Margo Flack, Cardinal Gibbons: Guided Chiefs (12-2-1) to school’s first girls state soccer championship with a 2-0 win over Arnold. “I am proud of this team for fighting through an extremely tough region to get back to the state final. This group played for each other and that’s what gave them the edge in the tight games. Seeing everything they put into this season come together to win the state title was absolutely amazing.”
