Saturday: State 2A and 4A track and field updates

Satellite High led the Class 2A track and field team standings briefly before finishing as the state runner-up today at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

The Scorps scored 59 points, taking the lead over Bishop Moore before the pole vault results pushed the Hornets back in front, with 64. Joe Wester won a championship in the 800 and ran on the 4x800 relay, which also won. Gabe Montague, also on that relay, added a win in the 3,200.

Liana Tyson won the state 100-meters title for Cocoa's girls team. The Tigers placed seventh in the team standings. Mia Lewis has three medals.

Astronaut's boys placed 14th, and Satellite was 16th in the girls standings. In Class 4A, the Viera boys were 12th.
