Circle Christian senior Sinkenesh Parker placed third and the Centurions were also third as a team in Sunday’s Class 1A girls cross country meet in Tallahassee.

Parker, who was the champion of her classification a year ago, ran a time of 18 minutes, 44.3 seconds for 5,000 meters at Apalachee Regional Park. Tampa Cambridge Christian junior Caroline Lehman won with a time of 18:07.8.

Gainesville Oak Hall won a tiebreaker to repeat as the team titlist after tying Cambridge with 55 points. Circle Christian was third at 67.

Montverde Academy’s girls turned in a best-ever 2A state runner-up finish. The Eagles, who placed third in 2017 and 2018, scored 98 points to take second behind dominant champion Jacksonville Bolles (18).

Lily Henne, a junior, led Montverde’s effort with a 19:11.5 time and fifth place finish.

The 1A and 2A races were pushed back from Friday to Sunday due to Tropical Storm Eta’s impact on Florida.

Circle Christian placed fourth in the boys 1A team standings, one spot ahead of Mount Dora Christian.

Mount Dora Christian sophomore Riley Novack turned in a 16:05.2 time good for fifth place individually. His senior teammate, Mitchell Curtis, was seventh at 16:24.2.

Bishop Moore was sixth and Trinity Prep ninth in the boys 2A race.

Nick Carpenter of Trinity Prep finished in 16:07.5 for seventh place individually.
