High school boys volleyball: Royal Palm Beach beats Park Vista to remain undefeated, advance to semis

In a matchup of two Palm Beach County high schools, it was Royal Palm Beach which emerged victorious in Friday's boys volleyball state quarterfinal.

The Wildcats remained undefeated with a four-set win over Park Vista, 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22, at Archbishop McCarthy High School in Fort Lauderdale. With the win, Royal Palm Beach (14-0) advances to a semifinal at 10 a.m. today and will face defending state champion Orlando-Freedom (28-2).

Football:Palm Beach County is losing high school coaches. Is the job becoming too much?

The winner of that semifinal will advance to the championship game at 4 p.m. today. All matches are at Archbishop McCarthy. 

The Cobras (21-8) won the opening set, but Royal Palm Beach responding by winning the final three. It was a tight match, with each set decided by four points or fewer.

Freedom won the 2019 state championship, and last year's championships were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
