Timothy Passmore, a Cocoa High senior-to-be, committed to the University of Connecticut football program on Thursday.

Passmore made the announcement on his Twitter account. He visited the school earlier this month, weeks after getting an offer from the coaching staff there.

Passmore, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman for the Tigers, made 33 tackles last season, 11 for loss. He recovered a touchdown for a fumble against Palm Bay.

He was No. 10 on the 321preps.com Dandy Dozen announced in the spring.

Passmore also had offers from Colorado State and New Hampshire. Coach Ryan Schneider said in the spring his defender has "violent hands, and he's just a hard worker. He is a kid who grinds in the weight room, and he works hard in the classroom. He doesn't say a whole lot, but he works very hard."

Commitments are not binding.
