FEATS OF THE WEEK: In 43 seasons leading the school founded by his father, River Ridge, La., John Curtis coach J.T. Curtis has won 25 state championships and over 500 games. Curtis, whose 520-54-6 record leaves him second on the all-time list for victories at any level of football, can now add a National Prep Poll title to an already sparkling resume. His Patriots finished the year 14-0-0 – the 13th undefeated season in school history – and extended their winning streak to 28 games. They dominated opponents by a cumulative score of 677-60. Signature wins included a 33-3 rout of defending Florida 8A champion Tampa, Plant on Labor Day weekend and a 35-13 blowout of Shreveport, Evangel Christian in the 2A state championship game. Evangel Christian is the only other Louisiana school to win a Prep Poll title, finishing No. 1 in 1999 ... In addition to Curtis, the final Top 25 of the season includes three Louisiana teams. Class 5A champion Metairie, Archbishop Rummel is ranked No. 11 and 4A titlist New Orleans, Karr is No. 13. ... All 10 teams in the Southeast regional poll also appear in the final national rankings. The highest-rated team is John Curtis at No. 1 and the lowest is Miami, Central, which checks in at No. 16. ... A crowd of 48,379 – just shy of the record for a Texas championship game – was on hand at Cowboys Stadium Saturday night for the finale of the high school football season. In the Texas 5A/II championship, No. 3 Katy earned its seventh state title with a 35-24 win against Cedar Hill. Nebraska-bound running back Adam Taylor ran for 277 yards and five touchdowns. In the 5A/I final, No. 8 Allen knocked off previously unbeaten Houston, Lamar, 35-21. Sophomore quarterback Kyler Murray led Allen with 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

NOTE: This is the 26th consecutive season for World Features Syndicate's National Prep Poll. It is the 13th straight year the National Prep Poll has been  compiled by Jamie DeMoney.

About the National Prep Poll: Compiled weekly weekly since 1987 and distributed by World Features Syndicate and the Associated Press, the National Prep Poll is the nation's second oldest weekly high school sports rankings. Doug Huff compiled the rankings from 1987 until 1999. Jamie DeMoney has compiled the poll since the start of the 1999 basketball season to the present.

The National Prep Poll is the only high school poll distributed to newspapers and Web sites around the United States by the Associated Press national wire service.
Among the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a team's coaching and recent tradition.

About PrepNation.com: PrepNation.com was originally launched August 1, 2001 by Jamie DeMoney for the purpose of creating a permanent online home for the National Prep Poll football and boys basketball rankings.
