FEATS OF THE WEEK: Texas Class 5A and 4A Division II state titles were decided at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and a pair of traditional power programs from the Houston area were victorious. No. 11 Katy ended then-No. 7 Southlake, Carroll's 31-game winning streak, 16-15, giving the Tigers their third championship in seven seasons and coach Mike Johnston his 200th career victory. No. 21 La Marque defeated Denton, Ryan, 43-35, in triple overtime for the 4A/II title. It was the Cougars' fourth title since 1995 . . . For the fourth straight year, and sixth time since 1994, Concord, Calif., De La Salle is the National Prep Poll champion. The Bob Ladouceur-coached Spartans' national-record winning streak reached 151 games this season playing a schedule that included a nationally televised matchup with preseason No. 2-ranked Shreveport, La., Evangel. De La Salle also won its 12th consecutive CIF-NCS Class 4A title and extended its run as the nation's top-ranked team to 64 straight weeks . . .
