National Prep Football Poll - Week 18

The National Prep Football Poll is compiled by high school sports experts Jamie DeMoney and Jeremy Plowman and a panel of sportswriters. The national Top 25 and regional Top 10's follow with won-loss-tie records.

The National Prep Poll has been compiled weekly since 1987 and are the only national high school rankings distributed on the Associated Press national wire service.

FEATS OF THE WEEK: Virginia Beach, Va., Landstown entered the national poll at No. 19 by defeating then-No. 21 Fairfax, Robinson, 47-20, in the Class AAA/6 state championship. The Eagles were lifted by an amazing performance from WR/DB Percy Harvin. The junior totaled 475 total yards, scored four touchdowns and had three interceptions . . . No. 4 Charlotte, N.C., Independence beat Hope Mills, South View, 41-7, to capture its fifth consecutive 4AA state title and extend the nation's longest current winning streak to 77 games. Georgia-bound quarterback Joe Cox finished with a state-record 66 touchdown passes -- a record 32 of which were caught by receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, also a Georgia recruit. The Patriots' win streak is the second longest in prep football history . . . Fifth-ranked Pittsburgh, Central Catholic finished one of the greatest seasons in Pennsylvania prep history by routing then-No. 23 Langhorne, Neshaminy, 49-14, in the Class AAAA championship. The Vikings outscored its playoff foes 267-36 and became the first Keystone State team ever to win 16 games in a season. They are the first WPIAL AAAA team to win a state title since 1995.
