FEATS OF THE WEEK: Regionally ranked Fresno, Calif., Clovis West whipped then-No. 13 Concord, De La Salle, 30-12, and ended a few more of the Spartans' streaks. Entering the game, De La Salle had won 149 straight versus in-state teams and 86 consecutive home games. And with a national-record 151-game winning streak entering this year, the Spartans had been in the national Top 25 every week since mid-way through the 1992 season. No. 2 Charlotte, N.C., Independence now holds the nation's current longest win streak at 64 games . . . More than 23,000 fans watched No. 3 Jenks, Okla., escape with a 17-13 win over regionally ranked Tulsa Union at the University of Tulsa's Skelley Stadium. The teams have combined to win the last eight Oklahoma big-school state championships . . . Midwest No. 5 Cleveland, St. Ignatius stymied Philadelphia, Saint Joseph's Prep, 26-6. The Hawks had won 35 straight games before losses to St. Ignatius and No. 5 Pittsburgh, Central Catholic the last two weeks.
