FEATS OF THE WEEK: Huge crowds turned out for Division I state playoff games involving nationally ranked teams from Ohio. An announced 35,000 fans at Paul Brown Stadium watched No. 5 Cincinnati, St. Xavier go to overtime to beat then-No. 22 Colerain, 12-9, in a regional semifinal showdown. At Cleveland Browns Stadium, 25,292 people watched a double-header that included No. 9 Cleveland, Glenville defeating Solon, 34-14, and No. 24 Lakewood, St. Edward trouncing Lyndhurst, Brush, 49-0 . . . More than 10,000 at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D., watched regionally ranked Sioux Falls, O'Gorman win its second straight Class 11AA state title and 26th consecutive game. The Knights whipped then-undefeated Yankton, 42-7, in the final . . . Plymouth, N.H., earned its 14th state title under coach Chuck Lenahan with a 20-14 defeat of Amherst, Souhegan, in the Division III championship. The Bobcats have made the state finals 24 times in 35 years under Lenahan and are 118-10 over the last 12 seasons . . . Velva, Velva-Sawyer whipped Cavalier, 33-12, to win the North Dakota Class A title and end the Tornadoes' 47-game winning streak.
