FEATS OF THE WEEK: Record-setting running back Levi Ferguson led New Sharon, Iowa, North Mahaska to its first Class A state championship with a 21-6 defeat of West Bend-Mallard. The senior set three state records this season: single-season touchdowns (64), career touchdowns (129) and career rushing yards (7,142) . . . Boise, Idaho, Bishop Kelly entered the regional rankings after winning its second straight 4A state title and 24th consecutive game. Led by senior quarterback Cody Hawkins, son of Boise State head coach Dan Hawkins, the Knights edged Pocatello, 31-29, before nearly 9,000 fans at Holt Arena . . . State player of the year John Clay rushed for a finals-record 259 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns to lead regionally ranked Racine, Wis., Park past Wisconsin Rapids, Lincoln, 28-9, for the Division 1 state championship. Clay, only a junior, rushed for over 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns this season . . . Salt Lake City, Skyline defeated then-regionally ranked Brighton, 34-24, for the Utah Class 5A championship. It was the first title for Skyline (9-5) since last decade, when the Eagles won six consecutive crowns from 1994-99.
