FEATS OF THE WEEK: State champions were crowned in seven states, including Illinois, where No. 22 Morris defeated Normal, 14-9, in the 6A final. The Redskins were led by senior running back John Dergo, who rushed for 206 yards and one touchdown. The future Illinois wrestler finished the season with 3,010 yards and four state records, including 52 touchdowns in a season and 110 touchdowns for his career . . . Addison, Driscoll thumped Newton, 42-7, in the 4A championship. The Highlanders became the only team to win five straight titles in the 32-year history of the Illinois state playoffs . . . Regionally ranked Salina, Kan., Central got 265 rushing yards and four touchdowns from running back Jake Sharp to spark a 29-21 win over Stillwell, Blue Valley in the 5A state championship. The Kansas-bound Sharp finished the season with a pair of state records: 63 touchdowns and 3,297 rushing yards . . . Regionally ranked Plymouth, Minn., Wayzata beat St. Paul, Cretin-Derham Hall, 28-24, for the school's first 5A state championship. Senior running back Joey Miller carried the ball a Prep Bowl-record 39 times for 252 yards
