FEATS OF THE WEEK: In a game that surely made defensive coordinators cringe, No. 5 Indianapolis, Warren Central defeated East St. Louis, Ill., 70-50, at the Warren Central Gridiron Classic. The Warriors rushed for 478 yards, including 264 yards on nine carries from quarterback Dexter Taylor. The senior has 442 rushing yards on only 13 carries (34 average), and Warren Central has rushed for 900 yards and scored 133 points in two games. East St. Louis amassed 565 total yards and scored six second-half touchdowns. . . . Dick Tighe of Fort Dodge, St. Edmond earned coaching win No. 340 in his team's 31-0 shutout of Buffalo Center, North Iowa. Tighe, 74, is now Iowa's all-time leader in coaching victories with a 340-133-8 record in 52 seasons. . . . No. 12 Hoover, Ala., won its 24th consecutive game, 50-29, over St. Augustine, Fla., Nease before an estimated 10,000 hometown fans and an ESPN national television audience. The Bucs were led by senior receiver Cornelius Williams, who had nine catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
