FEATS OF THE WEEK: At Shreveport's Independence Stadium., located in northwestern Louisiana away from most of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina, three ranked teams participated in the Ark-La-Tex Classic. In a game televised nationally by FOX Sports Net, No. 13 Springdale, Ark., whipped then-No. 16 Shreveport, La., Evangel, 35-7, behind 119 rushing yards and two touchdowns from senior Matt Clinkscales. No. 12 Longview, Texas, blanked Louisiana 5A power West Monroe, 21-0, on the strength of Texas recruit Vondrell McGhee's 157 yards rushing and two touchdowns . . . Philadelphia, Saint Joseph's Prep entered the national rankings at No. 18 after going on the road to beat then-No. 9 Langhorne, Neshaminy, 28-14. The Hawks connected on a 76-yard scoring pass on their first play from scrimmage and never trailed. Prep could continue to ascend the Poll if it defeats No. 9 Cleveland, St. Ignatius this weekend . . . Los Angeles, Hollywood broke its 42-game losing streak with a 35-14 win over Belmont. The Sheiks' losing streak, the longest in section history, dated back to the 2000 season. Copyright 2005 World Features Syndicate, Inc...endit
