FEATS OF THE WEEK: Nine of Ohio's top teams took on nine of the top teams from across the nation at the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge. At Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium, No. 2 Lakeland, Fla., got a 41-yard field goal from senior Matt Roddenberry in overtime to edge No. 7 Cincinnati, St. Xavier, 25-22. Senior Chris Rainey (Florida) led Lakeland with a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and 87 yards rushing . . . No. 13 Duncan, S.C., Byrnes was outgained by Cincinnati, Moeller in the stat book, but managed a 21-20 victory. Senior Willy Korn (Clemson) had two rushing touchdowns and 272 passing yards for Byrnes . . . Junior Mike MacGillivray had 302 combined passing and rushing yards with six touchdowns to lead No. 15 Concord, Calif., De La Salle to a 56-38 win against Cincinnati, Elder . . . Senior Brian Gamble (uncommitted) had more than 300 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns and an interception to lead host Massillon, Ohio, Washington to a 35-26 win against regionally ranked Chandler, Ariz., Hamilton. Senior Kerry Taylor (Arizona St.) had 11 catches for 181 yards for Hamilton.
