FEATS OF THE WEEK: Unbeaten Newport News, Va., Woodside handed Hampton, Phoebus its first loss since 2007. Woodside’s 14-9 upset ended what was the nation’s longest active win streak (52). ... Al Fracassa of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Brother Rice became the 10th coach to win 400 games. Fracassa, 78, improved his record to 400-119-7 with his team’s 38-2 blowout of Harper Woods, Chandler Park. ... Philip Haywood became Kentucky’s all-time leader in coaching victories, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Haywood collected win No. 346 in Belfry’s 52-20 rout of Pikeville, Pike County Central. ... According to the Fort Smith Times Record, Shaquille Jones of Fort Smith, Northside broke the Arkansas career reception record. In a 63-28 loss to No. 11 Bentonville, Jones (uncommitted) had 100 receiving yards on 12 catches, giving him 261 receptions for his career. ... A pair of running backs set state records with 500-yard rushing performances. In Oregon, the Albany Democrat-Herald reported sophomore Jake LaCoste had 508 yards despite playing in just over three quarters of a 35-21 win against Silverton. In Iowa, the Des Moines Register credited Nate Meier of Tabor, Fremont-Mills with a new state 8-man record after he gained 500 yards in his team’s 80-49 defeat of Malvern, East Mills. ... Andy Pappanastos of Montgomery, Ala., Trinity Presbyterian is now just five field goals shy of tying the national career record. The senior booted four in a 40-21 win over Montgomery, Montgomery Academy, giving him 45 for his career and breaking the Alabama state record.
