FEATS OF THE WEEK: For the second time in six years, the final No. 1 ranking in the National Prep Poll belongs to Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill. The Warriors compiled the nation’s top record (44-0) with 10 wins over teams that were nationally or regionally ranked this season. Six seniors on Oak Hill’s roster are headed to Division I programs, including Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year Tyler Lewis (signed with NC State), D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Georgetown), Jordan Adams (UCLA), Damien Wilson (Memphis), A.J. Hammons (Purdue) and Darion Clark (Charlotte). While the boarding school’s enrollment is small (about 150), Oak Hill‘s stature in the world of high school basketball is immense. This is the seventh Prep Poll title since 1993 for the program whose alumni include 23 NBA draftees and 28 McDonald’s All-Americans. Coach Steve Smith, who was named the Naismith National High School Coach of the Year, has compiled an 816-53 record in 27 seasons at the school. ... Second-ranked Henderson, Nev., Findlay dropped the curtain on the 2011-12 season in Bethesda, Md., by winning its third ESPN National High School Invitational Tournament title in four years. Led by 31 points from senior Brandon Ashley (Arizona), the Pilots rallied for an 86-83 overtime win over No. 13 Montverde, Fla., Montverde Academy in the final. Findlay outscored Montverde Academy a combined 47-29 in the fourth quarter and overtime to secure the win. Senior Kasey Hill (Florida) was Montverde Academy’s leading scorer with 23 points.
