FEATS OF THE WEEK: No. 3 Huntington, W.Va. avenged its only loss of the season, defeating No. 20 Georgetown, Ky., Scott County, 67-63, at Huntington's Veteran Memorial Fieldhouse. Playing without suspended star O.J. Mayo, the Highlanders were led by uncommitted senior forward Patrick Patterson's 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Junior guard Tyler Portwood made seven of nine 3-pointers to lead Scott County . . . Top-ranked Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill picked up its seventh win over a ranked opponent, defeating regionally ranked Rockville, Md., Montrose Christian, 74-65, at the U. of Virginia's John Paul Jones Arena. Oak Hill senior guard Nolan Smith (Duke) scored a game-high 25 points. Junior Brandon Jennings (Southern Cal) chipped in 15 points and eight assists . . . Standout guard Derrick Rose (Memphis) had 29 points and five assists to lead No. 4 Chicago, Simeon to a 74-66 win against Westchester, St. Joseph. Over 7,500 fans at Northwestern's Welsh-Ryan Arena watched the contest, which was the feature matchup in the McDonald's City-Suburban Showdown. Senior forward Evan Turner (Ohio St.) had 29 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lead St. Joseph . . . Super sophomore Lance Stephenson scored 22 points to lead regionally ranked Brooklyn, N.Y., Lincoln over regionally ranked Boys & Girls, 75-74, in the PSAL Brooklyn Borough championship.
