FEATS OF THE WEEK: A sold-out crowd over 9,000 at Marshall University and a national ESPNU audience watched No. 3 Huntington, W.Va., defeat No. 5 Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha, 74-62. The Highlanders got 27 points from superstar guard O.J. Mayo (USC). Guard Austin Freeman (Georgetown) led DeMatha, matching Mayo's 27 points . . . At the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children Basketball Festival in South Orange, N.J., No. 6 Newark, St. Benedict's routed state-ranked Paterson Catholic, 85-57. The Gray Bees were led by junior forward Samardo Samuels, who had 21 points, 16 rebounds, and six blocked shots . . . The Timberwolves Gatorade Shootout in Minneapolis pitted six of Minnesota's top squads against teams from five different states. The best individual performance came from blue chip center Kevin Love (UCLA), who had 41 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists to lead No. 12 Lake Oswego, Ore., past Osseo, 74-58 . . . Minnetonka, Hopkins, Minnesota's top-ranked team, was beaten 71-61 by regionally ranked North Hollywood, Calif., Campbell Hall. Washington-bound forward Justin Holiday led Campbell Hall with 28 points and 14 rebounds . . . No. 21 Mobile, Ala., LeFlore improved its record to 5-1 against out-of-state teams by beating Minnetonka, Minn., 72-66. Senior forward Derrick Young (uncommitted) led the way with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
