Medina High School's Sydney Thomas named lacrosse All-American

Sydney ThomasMedina's Sydney Thomas was named a lacrosse All-American.

capped off her illustrious high school lacrosse career by being named first team All-American. Thomas helped lead the Bees to the Division I state lacrosse championship for the second year in a row.

In her four years playing lacrosse for Medina, Thomas earned the team MVP award all four years, was named to the All District Team three times and named first team All-Ohio three times and All-Ohio Honorable Mention her freshman year.

Thomas was named to the Under Armour Midwest Underclass Elite Team twice, named to the rising junior and senior watch list by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, named an ESPNRise Girls Lacrosse Top 20 Midfielder and Top 50 Overall Player, named a Starting 10 Midwest Region Team Player by ESPNRise and named the Midwest Region’s Girls Lacrosse Player of the Week for April 19, 2011.

Thomas was also a starting midfielder for the Medina Division I state championship soccer team in 2009, and an all- conference soccer and basketball player on her high school teams.

She will be playing college lacrosse for Loyola (Baltimore, Md.) University this fall. Loyola is coming off its best women’s lacrosse season in school history, earning a trip to the Elite Eight in the NCAA D-I Tournament, winning the Big East Lacrosse Conference Championships, and finishing the season ranked sixth in the country.
