Freedom High School sophomore to play at U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program event

John Eltringham

Freedom High School sophomore John Eltringham has been invited to a U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program interregional event in Bradenton, Fla., from Dec. 19-22. The event brings players from all over the country to compete against each other.

Eltringham, a goalkeeper on the Lehigh Valley United LVU 96 squad, will participate in the ODP '98 pool, based upon his birth year. He will represent Region 1, which stretches from Maine to Virginia.

Eltringham, who has been in the ODP program for three years, was a co-captain on the Eastern PA ODP team. The squad made it to the Region 1 finals before losing to a team from Maryland. Region 1 sent 18 players to the interregional event in Florida.

Eltringham, an honor roll student at Freedom, will stay in Florida following the ODP event. His LVU team will play between Christmas and New Year's Day in the Disney College Showcase in Orlando.
