Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – The Rhodes men's lacrosse 2014 campaign came to a close on Saturday in the opening round of the Southern Athletic Association Conference Tournament when the Lynx fell to Centre College 12-4.
The Lynx cap the 2014 season with their best record yet at 7-10 and 1-6 in conference play. The Colonels continue on in the post season with a record of 11-3 and are 6-1 in the SAA.
The Colonels pulled out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period before the Lynx netted their first two goals.
Tyler Tisdale made the first connection off a
Merrill Charette pass, followed by an Andrew Slamunovich goal in a man up situation, chipping away at the deficit to make it 3-2 by the first break.
In the second period it was all Centre as the Colonels scored six unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead into the break.
Centre kept rolling, netting two goals before the Lynx broke the silence with a
MG Jadick score off a pass from
Matt Marvick to make the count 11-3. The final Rhodes goal came in the fourth quarter when Jadick scored his second goal of the contest, making the final count 12-4.
Braxton Carr got the start for the Lynx, manning the cage for 17:30 and picking up nine saves.
Michael Stierer finished out the contest, grabbing 18 saved in his 42:30 minutes in goal.
Rhodes kept the race tight in several categories, including a 25-21 ground ball battle, and the face off fight was won by the Lynx, taking 10 of 18 attempts.
In the Lynx third season as a varsity sport, they have set the best record in program history with their seven wins.
