Vanderbilt running back Jerron Seymour has been dismissed for violation of team rules, according to coach Derek Mason.

Seymour was listed on Vanderbilt's depth chart released on Tuesday, but he was not at practice on Wednesday. Mason said Seymour, a fourth-year junior, is still enrolled in school and on course to graduate in May. Mason did not offer further comment about Seymour's dismissal.

Seymour, the team's leading rusher last season, has run for only 123 yards on 25 carries in six games this season while battling injuries. He was suited up for Vanderbilt's 34-10 loss to Florida on Nov. 8, but he did not play. Seymour had only two rushing attempts for 2 yards in the past four games.

Seymour was suspended for a violation of team policy for the Commodores 21-20 win over Charleston Southern in October. He also missed more than two weeks of fall camp for an undisclosed injury.

Meanwhile, redshirt freshman Ralph Webb has rushed for 843 yards, a Vanderbilt single-season freshman record, heading into Saturday's game at No. 4 Mississippi State.

Mason said the running back position is in good hands with Webb and fellow freshman Dallas Rivers (184 yards, two TDs).

"It's never the size of the dog, but the size of the fight in the dog," Mason said about 5-foot-10, 196-pound Webb. "So as we look at our (running backs), especially Ralph Webb, that's a guy that continues to come out and work. We like his swag and how he runs. We feel good about it."

Seymour is the second Vanderbilt running back dismissed in about a month. Junior Brian Kimbrow was let go on Oct. 16, following his indefinite suspension a month earlier for conduct detrimental to the team.

Last season, Seymour (716 yards, 14 TDs) and Kimbrow (341 yards, three TDs) combined for 1,057 yards and 17 scores.
