UTC Soccer Adds Seven To 2015 Roster

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer coach Gavin McKinney added seven to the 2015 UTC roster on Signing Day. The first-year coach signed players at all positions including a pair of keepers.

 

Katie Emig • Bearden High School • Keeper

Katie is a transfer from Austin Peay. Over two seasons she saw action in 14 games at the keeper position with a .706 saves percentage in the 2014 season. She was a two-time member of the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was named to the Dean’s List both semesters of her freshman year.

She is a three-time member of the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll and was named to the President’s List last fall.

In her sophomore season on the soccer team, the Bulldogs won the District 4-AAA title and went on to claim the Region 2-AAA crown and advanced to the state quarterfinals. Katie helped the team to a 21-2-3 record that season.

Katie went on to play for the FC Alliance 95G Black in Knoxville. The team advanced to the state finals all five years and won the title in 2011. The Alliance won the Vegas Showcase in 2012 and the Disney Showcase the next season while advancing to the Vegas Showcase finals in 2011. She was a five year member of the Tennessee Olympic Development Program (ODP).

At Bearden she was a member of the Key Club, Harry Potter Club, Leadership and FCA. She works as a coach for FC Alliance and is a TOP Soccer volunteer. She is a member of the National Junior Honors Society, National Honors Society and National Society of High School Scholars.

Katie was born February 24 in Knoxville, Tenn. She is the daughter of Julie and Gary Emig and has a brother Adam and a sister Meaghan. Katie is a Political Science major with a Legal Studies concentration and minoring in psychology.

Carolina Heavey • Houston High School • Defender

Caroline is a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Mustangs. She is a two-time recipient of the Coach’s Award, was named defensive MVP and team MVP. She was named to the Best of Preps, All-Metro Team, All-State Team, All-Star Team and is a Tennessee Sports Writers (TSWA) All-State selection.

The Mustangs claimed the 2013 DI-AAA state championship and reached the finals in 2014 while advancing to the semifinals in 2011 and 2012. She helped lead the Mustangs to four Region 8-AAA titles and four straight District 15-AAA crowns.

She played club ball for the 96 Lady Lobos Rush who were two-time USYS Tennessee semifinalists and was a member of the 97 Lady Lobos Rush.

At Houston, Caroline is a member of the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Houston High Honors Academy, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, President of the National Technical Honor Society, an Advanced Placement Scholar and a member of the 30 and Above Club.

She was a member of FCA, vice president of DECA, Horizons, Speech and Debate Team, Outdoors Club, Church of the Holy Spirit Breakfast Ministry and a part time swim coach at Ridgeway C.C.

Caroline was born November 17 in Germantown, Tenn. She is the daughter of Jeff and Krista Heavey and has two sisters, Victoria and Ashley. She plans to major in Business.

Maddy Coleman • Scott County High School

Maddy was a team captain for the Cardinals and helped lead the team to the 2013 and 2014 6A District title and the 2013 6A Regional finals. She was a two-time All-District Team member (2013 and 2014) and was named to the 2012 All-Region Team. In both 2013 and 2014, Maddy was named the Playmaker of the Year.

She played club ball for the Lexington Futbol Club in Lexington, Ky., for five years. The team was ranked second in the state of Kentucky. The LFC was the 2014 Division winner of the Disney Showcase and Division winner of the Crossroads Soccer Showcase. In 2013, her team was the Division winner of the CASL Soccer Showcase.

Academically she is ranked in the Top 18th percentile of her class and maintained a 3.8 GPA. She was born June 26 in Williamsport, Penn., and plans to major in Athletic Training. She is the daughter of David and Tammy Himes. Her brother Chase is a junior at Transylvania University and her sister Brett is a freshman at Morehead State. She has a younger brother Caden who aspires to be a professional baseball player.

Shelby Williams • University School of Jackson • Defender

Shelby, a three-time THSSCA All-State selection, helped lead the Bruins to five state tournament appearances. USJ won the Division II A state title in 2010 and 2011 and was the Runner-Up in 2013. The Bruins claimed the 2013 and 2014 Division II Region and Division II District titles.

The five-year varsity starter was named team captain for three years and a two-time TSWA All-State selection. She was a two-time All-West Tennessee Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time District MVP.

Shelby was a team captain in 2012 and 2013 for the 96 Jackson Futbol Club and led the Lady Wolves to back-to-back state titles and the President’s Cup Region III semifinals.

She is a member of the National Honors Society as well as the USJ Concert Choir. She is a member of the SADD Club, Key Club, Younglife, Operation Smile and the International Club.

Shelby was born September 6 in Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of F. Russell Williams and Mary Ann Williams and has one sister, Morgan. She plans to major in Nursing.

Rachel Giampapa • University School of Jackson

Rachel is a five-year starter for the Bruins varsity team. She ranks fifth all-time at USJ for point accumulation and was a four-time all-state selection by the coaches and TSWA. She was named the MVP in 2012, an award that was discontinued after that season. She is a four-time all-district selection and was named MVP in the 2012 and 2014 seasons. Rachel was a three-time all-region team member and named to the Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee Team for four years.

She led the Bruins to five state tournament appearances. USJ won the Division II A state title in 2010 and 2011 and was the Runner-Up in 2013. The Bruins claimed the 2013 and 2014 Division II Region and Division II District titles. USJ was awarded the All-American Academic Team Award all five seasons she was on the squad.

Rachel played club ball for 97 Lobos Rush Premier of the Collierville Soccer Association from 2011-2015. The Lady Lobos were semifinalists for the USYS Tennessee State Soccer Association Division I in 2014. She was also a member of the Jacksun Futbol Club Wolves from 2007-2011 and a US National Rush Select Team selection in 2013.

She was a member of the USJ basketball and softball teams.

She is a member of the National French Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and the Tri M National Music Honor Society. She was a six-year selection for the All-Northwest Honor Choir and completed a year-long leadership and community service development through Leadership University.

She is a member of the French Club, SADD, serves as the Key Club Chaplain, the senior class secretary and treasurer for the Mu Alpha Theta. She is a member of the Grace United Methodist Youth Fellowship, Young Life and youth camp counselor for Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly.

Rachel was born November 26 in Memphis, Tenn. She is the daughter of Dr. Chris and Mary Ann Giampapa. Her father was a member of the club lacrosse team at Ripon College. She has two brothers, Matt and John. Matt is a member of the football team at the University of Tennessee. She plans to major in Biology or Physical Therapy.

Masey Fox • Greenback High School • Forward

In her four years of high school, Masey amassed over 100 goals and was Greenback’s most prolific goals scorer. She was the District Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman and again in her senior year. She earned multiple All-District, All-County, All-Region and All-State honors.

Masey played club ball for the FC Alliance 97 Black. In 2013 she helped lead the Alliance to a state championship while in 2012 and in 2014, the team advanced to the state finals. The Alliance were region finalists in the Southeast Region III Premier League and were the Midwest Region League Champions. In 2012 and 2013 her team competed in the National League Series.

She was a three-year member of the Greenback girls’ basketball team and stepped in to take over kicking duties on the football team when her twin brother suffered an ACL injury in 2012. She was 36-for-36 in PATs and recorded her longest field goal at 34 yards.

Masey was chosen as the Tennessee Volunteer for the American Legion Girls State Competition, lettered in AP History, is in the Top 10 percent of her class and a member of Beta Club and HOSA.

She was born January 27 in Knoxville, Tenn. She is the daughter of Darcy and Robert Fox. Her mother played field hockey for Ohio University. She has a twin brother Braxton and a younger sister Julianne.

Molli Miller • Maryville High School • Keeper

After an injury sidelined the Maryville keeper in her junior year, she returned to the lineup this past fall recording 14 shutouts and allowed just 0.8 goals per game. She was named to the 2014 All-State Team as well as All-Region and All-District. Miller was named to the 2014 All Star team and the Knox Prep Extra First Team as well as a Tennessee ODP player.

As a member of the FC Alliance Black, she helped the team to the 2014 state finals. In 2014 she played in the Midwest Regional League and is currently playing the in the Regional Premier League.

Away from soccer she is a Foreign Language Teaching Ambassador teaching French to elementary school students and a Peer Tutor for special education classes. She is a member of the Debs Service Organization, a TOPS Soccer Coach, a Parks and Rec Sports Camp counselor and a member of the Art Club.

Molli was born June 3 in Maryville Tenn. She is the daughter of Kevin and Beth Miller and has three sisters, Katherine, Rachel and Lucy. She is planning to major in Communications.
