Belmont carried the momentum it picked up in its record-setting 34-10 win over UT Martin on Sunday into Tuesday's game against rival Lipscomb.

The Bruins jumped to a 17-1 lead in the sixth inning and coasted to a 17-2 victory at Rose Park.

Belmont (14-11) hit five home runs after having 12 on Sunday.

In the past two games combined, the Bruins have scored 51 runs on 48 hits with 49 RBIs and 17 home runs.

"It's a tribute to our kids' mental approach and self-discipline at the plate," Belmont coach Dave Jarvis said. "I don't think any of them are doing anything they aren't capable of, but it's tremendous to see them all doing it at the same time and also together."

While most of the players in the lineup have contributed at the plate in the two games, some of the top batters have been Drew Ferguson with a total of nine hits, 11 RBIs and three home runs, Tyler Fullerton (Siegel) with five hits, nine RBIs and three home runs, Nick Egli (Battle Ground Academy) with five hits, six RBIs and four home runs and Matt Beaty with five hits, seven RBIs and two home runs.

Ferguson went 9-for-14 at the plate in the two games while Fullerton and Egli both were 5-for-8.

In Sunday's win over UT Martin, the Bruins scored an OVC-record 20 runs in the sixth inning.

The sixth was another good inning Tuesday for the Bruins when they scored five runs.

They also had five runs in the second to go up 8-1 on Lipscomb. That included back-to-back-to-back home runs on three consecutive pitches to Ferguson, Beaty and Fullerton.

Lipscomb (17-9) came into the game with momentum as well. The Bisons had won four of five games, a stretch that began with a 10-9 win over Belmont just seven days earlier.

Belmont's five home runs were the most given up by Lipscomb since Middle Tennessee State hit five in a game on March 31, 2010.

Lefty Patrick McGrath (3-1) earned the win for the Bruins. He went seven innings, allowing one earned run and five hits while striking out five and walking one.

Lipscomb's Brady Puckett (1-1), a freshman from Riverdale, took the loss after giving up six runs on five hits in 11/3innings. He walked two and did not record a strike out.
