MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes College Women's Basketball Head Coach Matt Dean announced the hiring of Samantha Davidson as their new assistant women's basketball coach on Thursday.

Davidson recently finished her Masters of Science in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Last year she served as an Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach at the Webb School of Knoxville and they won the 2015 Division II Class A Girls' Basketball State Championship.  In 2013-14 she served as a student assistant for the Tennessee Lady Vols women's basketball program and in 2014-15 she was a Coach for the AAU Tennessee Fury.

Davidson is no stranger to the Southern Athletic Association, as she was a three year starter at point guard position for conference member Birmingham Southern College from 2008-12. She scored 588 career points and made 110 career three point field goals on teams that posted four consecutive winning seasons at Birmingham Southern.

"I'm thrilled that Coach Davidson has accepted our offer to coach at Rhodes," said Dean. "Samantha played collegiately for a great coach in Brad Hodge and she is going to be instrumental in developing our young guards."

Davidson is a native of West Tennessee and played her high school basketball at Chester County High School in Henderson, Tenn.
