It took two overtime periods but Memphis women's soccer did just enough to clinch its second consecutive AAC tournament championship.

Shae Taylor's goal in the first overtime held up to give the No. 4 Tigers a 1-0 win over No. 6 SMU and secure the program's third AAC championship. Taylor's goal came in the 99th minute on an assist from Momo Nakao.

The win capped a strong run for the Tigers through the AAC Tournament. On Thursday, Memphis (9-5-5) upset No. 1 seed UCF on penalty kicks, winning 6-5. The score was tied 1-1 after regulation and two overtimes after the Tigers' Lilly Huber scored the game-tying goal in the 62nd minute.

Memphis' win in the AAC championship game was the Tigers' eighth shutout of the season. They out-shot SMU 17-7 and goalkeeper Claire Wyville made a diving save in the second overtime to preserve the win.

The Tigers have reached their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and will learn their opponent on during the NCAA's selection show, which starts at 3 p.m. on Monday.
