ETSU Softball split Saturday's doubleheader with Samford, capturing the 7-6 win in game one before falling 10-2 in game two.

The Bulldogs struck first in game one with an error scoring a run in the second before a big fourth inning out of Samford that resulted in three more runs.

ETSU saying not so fast, answered all three in the bottom half of the inning off of RBI-singles from Taylor Suchy and Jasmine Sanchez.

Samford would add two more to stretch their lead in the top of the sixth before Brylee Mesusan, Cameron Young, and Riley Nayadley knocked four runs across to give ETSU the 7-6 advantage heading into the final frame.

The Bucs were able to hold on for the game one win.

Game two it was Cameron Young staying hot with an RBI-single in the first to put the Bucs up early. After the Bulldogs plated a pair in the second, Riley Nayadley knocked in Brylee Mesusan in the third to tie the game up.

The fourth inning would make or break the game and it broke this one wide open for the Bulldogs. Eight runs scored in the top of the fourth would give Samford the big lead that they would hold onto, picking up the run-rule win in five to even the series.

The rubber-match is set for Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
