JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WCYB) — ETSU Men's and Women's tennis teams waited anxiously on Monday to see where they would be headed for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Up first was the men, as one of the last few names to be called, it was revealed that they would head to Knoxville to take on Tennessee for their first match of the tournament.
The Vols will head into the weekend on a losing streak while the Bucs have won nine straight. Behind the power of four time SoCon Player of the Year Dimitri Badra, ETSU will look to pull off the upset this weekend.
On the women's side, they too will head down the road to Knoxville. They got the more favorable draw of a 15-9 Duke squad. ETSU has won nine of their last ten matches and is coming in off of a conference championship while Duke fell short in the ACC tournament.
This will be the women's second straight appearance in the tournament, and seventh overall for the program.
As the team takes the court on Saturday, they will go for their first ever NCAA Tournament win.
