Unbeaten Knox Doss boys blast West Wilson, Station Camp Middle falls to Mt. Juliet

HENDERSONVILLE The unbeaten Knox Doss Middle at Drakes Creek boys basketball team rolled to a 60-21 victory over visiting West Wilson in the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) Area 3 Tournament semifinal round on Wednesday evening.

The Mustangs (17-0) built a 28-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and extended it to 58-18 entering the fourth quarter.

Knox Doss guard Briston Bennett made 9 of 11 free-throw attempts and scored a game-high 19 points, and he was joined in double figures by teammates Garnett Hollis (16 points) and Max Barnett (11).

Zac Rush scored five points for the Mustangs. Teammates Jorian Cantrell and Colin Woods contributed four points each, and Evan Eursher provided two points.

Kobe Tibbs led the Wildcats offensively with nine points.

With the win, the Mustangs earned a home game in the sub-sectional round and also advanced to Thursday evening’s area championship game against Mt. Juliet. Sub-sectional winners earn a spot in the Middle Tennessee Sectional Tournament, which will be held next week at Murfreesboro’s Central Magnet School.

The Bison trailed 7-3 after one period of play, 22-16 by halftime and 34-20 entering the fourth quarter.

Station Camp (12-5) attempted just one free throw in the contest.

Guards Jermaine Holt and Kyle Winter led the Bison offensively with nine and eight points, respectively, backed by Alex Vaughn (7 points), Rahkilon Williams (4) and Trey Moore (2).

Forward Riggs Abner and guard Jack Gold led the Golden Bears (13-7) with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Abner scored seven points in the second quarter, while Gold scored six in the period.

Station Camp – which will be forced to travel for its sub-sectional contest due to Wednesday’s loss – moved on to face West Wilson in Thursday evening’s consolation game.
