MS Roundup: Rucker-Stewart girls knock Ellis out of first-place tie

Hunter squads remain in ties for top spots

Thursday’s Sumner County Conference action saw a three-team tie atop the girls’ standings reduced to two, as visiting Rucker-Stewart handed Ellis its first loss in round-robin action, a 26-19 setback.

The Lady Cougars dropped into a tie for third with the Lady Rams, with both teams now 4-1 in round-robin play.

Ellis’ boys improved to 4-1 in round-robin play and a tie for third place with a 42-28 victory over Rucker Stewart.

Basketball

Station Camp boys 60, Portland East 22: Colin Smith scored 13 points and Kheller Die added 10 for the Bison (6-1 overall, 4-1 in round-robin play). Station Camp outscored Portland East 20-7 in the third quarter to pull away.

>> Station Camp’s girls remained perfect with a 30-11 victory over the Lady Panthers, improving to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in round-robin play.

Knox Doss girls 34, Shafer 21: Katie Dugger and Bri Wade each scored 10 points as the Lady Mustangs (3-4, 3-2) defeated Shafer (1-6, 0-5). Emma Donley led the Lady Wave with a game-high 12 points.
