Zion Christian hires new middle school football/baseball head coach



Zion Christian Academy is excited to announce the hiring of the head middle school football coach and middle school baseball coach, Zion Alum, Daniel Pugh. Coach Pugh brings an abundance of playing and coaching experience to the Eagles. Pugh received his B.S. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he served as student assistant for the 2013 Southern Conference Champion team. He spent the last few years coaching at Lookout Valley High School as the Assistant Varsity football coach, as well as the assistant to the middle school football team and middle school baseball team.

While at Zion, Daniel was a star player in several sports. He was the four year starting quarterback with 8221 total yards offense and 84 touchdowns. His numerous awards include All Region Player in 2008 and 2009 as well as being named All State Quarterback in 2009. Coach Pugh still holds several state football records:

• 6th Most Completions in a career – 569
• 3rd Most Passing Attempts in a career – 1,108
• 8th Most Passing Yards in a career – 7,779
• 8th Most Touchdown passes in a career – 67
• Tied for 3rd Most Touchdowns in a game – 8
• 10th Most Points in a Career – 516

Daniel also lettered in basketball (2008 All District) and baseball (2008, 2009 All District; 2010 All Region).

In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Pugh will serve as a math and history teacher. We welcome he and his wife Ilana back to the Zion family.
