Westwood Middle School baseball returned home Tuesday, March 26, for the second of a two-game series with Cascade at Fred Deadman Park. The Champions broke away early and handed the Rockets a 17-6 loss.
Cascade got on the board early in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Westwood responded in the bottom of the first when Jonathan Nelson scored on a wild pitch.
The Champions added four more in the top of the second inning, followed by another six in the third to take a 13-1 lead. Nelson and Timothy Henderson added two more runs in the third, but Westwood was held to three more for the game's remainder.
Nelson notched three runs for the Rockets, getting on base all three times on walks. Westwood finished Tuesday's game with zero hits but had 10 runners advance on walks.
On Friday and Saturday, the CCCHS Lady Raiders played host to the Chick-fil-A Coffee Classic, falling 11-0 to Baylor, losing 8-3 to Boyd Buchanan and beating Giles County 5-4 at Dave King Park.
