Bulldogs advance to baseball state

A late-season hot streak has propelled the Inman Middle School baseball team into a state tournament berth. The Bulldogs won the West Tennessee sectional tournament title by pounding Three Oaks of Dyersburg 14-2 on Thursday to earn a spot in the four-team TMSAA Class Baseball Championship set for Friday and Saturday at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. Inman (14-7) will battle Athens City Middle school on Field 3 at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The first game on Friday starts at 5 p.m. with Ridgeview Elementary taking on Charlotte Middle. The state tournament championship game is set for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. BULLDOGS 14, EAGLES 2 Inman jumped on Three Oaks quickly by scoring six runs in the first inning and adding eight in the second frame. The Golden Eagles scored one run in the first inning and one more in the third. The Bulldogs had just five hits in the game. Martez Rack had a hit and walked twice while Ashton Kemp added a base hit, three walks and two runs. Logan Davidson had a hit, walked once and scored two times. Peyton Littleton drove in three runs with a hit and scored two runs. Dalton Raymer also had a hit and scored two times. Davidson was the Bulldogs’ starting pitcher and pitched into the fourth inning, allowing two runs with only one earned run. He gave up two hits and walked two while striking out three. Ryan Mitchell relieved to get the final two outs of the fourth inning and pitched a scoreless fifth inning. He walked one batter.
