The South Middle School Lady Trojans lost to the Warren County Lady Pioneers 46-12 at North Middle Monday in a quarterfinal game for the Central Tennessee Conference tournament.
The Lady Trojans fell behind by more than 20 points in the first quarter and weren’t able to bounce back from the massive deficit as their season came to an end with the loss.
The Lady Trojans were held scoreless in the opening period while the Lady Pioneers opened up a 22-0 advantage by the end of the quarter.
Khylee Speich hit a pair of free throws early in the second quarter to put the Lady Trojans on the board, but South wouldn’t score again for the rest of the first half.
They trailed 31-2 at halftime.
The Lady Trojans were able to do more scoring in the third quarter, but the deficit would continue to grow throughout the period. Zoe Cole scored five of South’s seven points in the third quarter.
They trailed 41-9 going into the final period.
Svetlana Fuqua scored on a fast-break layup and hit a free throw to provide all three of South’s points in the fourth quarter with the final deficit settling at 34 points.
Cole led the Lady Trojans with five points for the game, followed by Fuqua with three points and Victoria Latham and Speich with two points each.
With the loss, the Lady Trojans finished their season with a record of 3-14.
