Beth Long named Interim Coach for Summertown Softball

Summertown - Following the recent and sudden retirement of 33-year veteran coach Bobby Wyrick, a former Lady Eagle is now taking the reigns of the Summertown Lady Eagles Softball program.

Beth Long, a 2006 Alumnus of SHS, was named Interim Head Coach on Wednesday, effective immediately.

Long was an All-State utility player and pitcher for the Lady Eagles from 2003 thru 2006 and played continued her career at Columbia State. In addition to softball, Long was also a key member of the successful Lady Eagles basketball teams during those same years, including reaching the Final 4 in her Senior season. Just 3 weeks ago, Long completed her first year as an Assistant to Coach Craig McGill on the 2011-2012 Lady Eagles basketball team that also reached the Final 4.

Long has little time to prepare ….as the Lady Eagles travel to Loretto on Thursday, March 29th.

Barry Long, who has served as an Assistant for the past several seasons, will continue with the program.
