McMinn Central Jesse Vincent's long shot in the 57th minute proved to be the game winner Thursday in their 2-1 District 5A/AA championship win over Grace Academy.

The Chargerettes avenged a 3-1 loss to Grace from last week.  The loss for Grace is just their second of the season.

The game was tied 0-0 at the half.

In the 47th minute, McMinn Central's Nicole Watson and Jessie Young exchanged passes before Young scored from inside the box.

Grace's Olivia Rowell had a shot go off the crossbar in the 57th minute.

The McMinn Central defense was able to hold off the pressing Golden Eagles until injury time when Danielle Shumaker finished a shot after a flurry of activity in the McMinn Central box.

Grace continued to press in the final seconds and a final attempt on the goal was called for offsides and seconds later the final whistle blew.

Both keepers stayed active in the match with Abby Bosco tending the Grace goal and Taylor Young in the McMinn Central goal.

Bosco was named District 5A/AA MVP after the game.

McMinn Central earns a home region match with Hixson on Tuesday and Grace will travel to East Ridge.

Grace drops to 14-2-1 on the season and McMinn Central improves to  8-7-3.
