H.S. BASKETBALL: South Side’s Hicks transferring to Arlington Country Day

According to his Twitter account, South Side forward Malik Hicks has decided to transfer to Arlington Country Day (Fla.) for his senior season.

Hicks has been a three-year starter for South Side and has helped lead the Hawks to the last two Class AA state championship games. As a junior, he averaged 23.6 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in helping the team win the state title.

Hicks was key in the state tournament semifinal win over Christ Presbyterian and final win over East Nashville last year.

Arlington Country Day is a prep school in Jacksonville, Fla. known for its boys’ basketball program that is annually ranked among the best in the country.

Hicks was being highly recruited through the summer and was sitting with 10 offers on last check. He has offers from Cincinnati, Oakland, Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, UT Chattanooga, Ole Miss, UT Martin, Oklahoma State and High Point.
