Soccer Roundup: Creek gets first-ever 7-AAA win

DNJ Sports Report

MURFREESBORO – The Stewarts Creek girls soccer team achieved some history Thursday night.

With a 1-0 victory against district-foe Blackman, the Lady Red Hawks earned their first-ever District 7-AAA win in the school’s brief one-plus year history. Creek finished its first 7-AAA season 0-4-2 in league play last year.

“We’ve been chasing that first district win for over a year now,” coach Brooke Mayo said. “We had two ties last year, but never got that win. My girls have been really hungry and have put in a ton of time, energy and work to get this one. It feels good to know that all paid off.”

Alexis Seilkop scored the game’s only goal in the first-half to seal the victory.

Smyrna 6, Spring Hill 2: Sierra Franz scored four goals while Mackenzie Wrather and Megan Blumhoefer added one goal each for the Lady Bulldogs (2-0).

Riverdale 5, Coffee County 0: Maddie Falter scored four goals and Ashton Fogle added one goal for the Lady Warriors. Kristen Fuller earned the shutout in goal.

DeKalb County 9, MTCS 0: The Lady Cougars fell to 0-2 on the year.
