  • Friday, August 29, 2014

The Chattanooga Christian School Charger defense earned their second shutout of the season with a 43-0 win over Lookout Valley.

The Charger defense held Lookout Valley to 132 total yards and scored twice.

The Charger defense scored a safety on a bad snap by Lookout Valley and Philip Sneller recovered a Lookout Valley fumble in the endzone for another defensive touchdown.

The Charger offense also looked sharp  scoring twice in the first quarter.

Senior quarterback Zach Mercer scored on a 47 yard run and a 55 yard pass to fellow senior Jared Miller.

DJ Toney anchored the Charger attack rushing for 50 yards on 11 carries before going down early in the second quarter.  Toney was taken off the field on a stretcher after being flipped on short run.

Mercer also went down in the second quarter but younger brother Matthew Mercer came in and scored on a six yard run after Nick Wilson had scored on a three yard run.

The younger Mercer also threw for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Lookout Valley senior quarterback Evan Walker was 5 of 11 for 41 yards and rushed 45 yards on 10 carries.

CCS improves to 2-0 and will host region rival Notre Dame next week.
