Jones carried Crockett to big win

Johnny Jones was one of 12 Super Seniors selected by the Sun featured during the football preseason, and Jones is living up to that super billing so far.

The way he did that this week was by leading Crockett County to another lop-sided win, this time at South Side.

Jones touched the ball 10 times, but he gained 234 yards and scored four times on those few carries.

Jones said before the season began he wants to have the best season he can have for his team and for himself.

“I think we’re good enough to be a very good team that goes a long way in the playoffs, but everybody has to do their job for us to do that,” Jones said. “My job is to get carries and get a lot of yards when they give me the ball.

“I hope I have a good enough season that college coaches almost have to make me an offer if they get a chance to see what I can do.”

The competition increases this week when the Cavaliers get into District 13-AA play, but Jones is having that kind of a season so far.
