We are two weeks into the season. Some teams play extremely hard schedules, and because of that, these teams will take some losses during the season.

The hope though is that these losses will make these teams better for postseason play and a possible run at a section/sub-state or even state tournament berth.

So here is the new Elite 8 after Week 2:

1. TCA (15-A) (11-0)

– The Lady Lions are still unbeaten and beat a tough Class AA team in Dyersburg. Results: Beat Lexington 3-0; Beat Dyersburg 3-2; Beat Scotts Hill 3-0. Last week: No. 2.

2. USJ (Div. II-A) (8-5)

– The Lady Bruins have played a brutal schedule, and they took their first best-of-five match loss. Results: Beat Rossville Christian 3-0; Lost to White Station 3-0; Beat Dyer County 3-0. Last week: No. 1.

3. South Side (14-AA) (11-1)

– The Lady Hawks' only loss is to Milan in the FHU Tournament quarterfinals, and they beat some quality teams this past week. Results: Beat Bolivar 3-0; Beat Halls 2-0; Beat Dyer County 2-1; Beat Camden Christian 2-0; Beat Liberty 2-0. Last week: No. 4.

4. Chester County (14-AA) (7-3)

– The Eaglettes picked up a pair of wins and continued to improve along the way to stay among the best in the area. Results: Beat Hardin County 3-1; Beat McNairy Central 3-0. Last Week: No. 3.

5. Crockett County (13-AA) (7-4)

– The Lady Cavaliers didn't lose a set in a pair of wins last week, and that is big with an inexperienced squad. Results: Beat Trenton Peabody 3-0; Beat Brighton 3-0. Last week: No. 5.

6. Lexington (14-AA) (6-2)

– The Lady Tigers' only loss was to top-ranked TCA, but they also picked up three other wins. Results: Beat Bolivar 3-0; Lost to TCA 3-0; Beat Milan 2-1; Beat Halls 2-0. Last week: No. 8.

7. Hardin County (13-AAA) (8-5)

– The Lady Tigers swept a trimatch, but lost to Chester County, a team they hoped to compete well against. Results: Lost to Chester County 3-1; Beat Waterloo (Ala.) 2-0; Beat Sheffield (Ala.) 2-0. Last week: No. 6.

8. Middleton (15-A) (5-1)

– The Lady Tigers are quickly proving to be a team that could battled for a spot in the Class A sectionals and maybe a spot in the Class A state tournament. Results: Beat Fayette Academy 3-0; Beat Corinth (Miss.) 3-0; Beat Madison 3-1. Last week: Not ranked

Dropped out: Milan (7-5)
