The fallout: The Cougars have lost two in a row with two of the best teams on their schedule coming in the next two weeks.
North Side (5-0, 2-0) 21,Ripley (2-3, 0-2) 0
Key to the game: The Indians used all three phases to score three late touchdowns.
The fallout: The Indians are young but gaining experience, but they’ve managed to go through the first half of the season perfect.
Haywood (2-3, 1-1) 14,Covington (1-4, 0-2) 12
Key to the game: The Tomcats controlled both sides of the ball up front all game.
The fallout: Haywood picks up some momentum before going into a big game in Alabama next week.
District 15-A
TCA (4-1, 2-0) 49,Scotts Hill (3-2, 1-1) 28
Key to the game: Grant Reviere’s four touchdown receptions paced TCA’s offense.
The fallout: TCA is the lone unbeaten team in district play, while Scotts Hill’s defense had a couple of weak areas exposed.
Jackson Christian (1-4, 1-1) 42, Middleton (0-5, 0-2) 0
Key to the game: The Eagles’ offense was virtually unstoppable all night.
The fallout: Jackson Christian has laid a tangible foundation to build more success on, while Middleton’s defensive woes continue.
Adamsville (4-1, 1-1) 42, Riverside (2-3, 1-1) 14
Key to the game: The Cardinals scored early and often to put the game out of reach in the second half.
The fallout: Adamsville own the tie-breaker between probably the top two contenders for second in the district, but they both still have to face Scotts Hill.
District 14-AA
Chester Co. (4-1, 2-0) 48, South Side (1-4, 1-1) 0
Key to the game: South Side couldn’t stop the Eagles’ offense.
The fallout: South Side has been outscored 96-0 in its last two games, while Chester County could be on a crash course for a district title game in Week 8.
Lexington (3-2, 2-0) 49, Bolivar (0-5, 0-2) 14
Key to the game: Bolivar’s defensive woes continued against one of the more athletic offenses in the area.
The fallout: Bolivar is in a hole when it comes to competing for the top two spots in the district, having lost already to the two remaining unbeaten teams.
McNairy (1-3, 1-1) 38,Fayette-Ware (0-5, 0-2) 14
Key to the game: McNairy matched Fayette-Ware’s athleticism with intensity and good fundamentals.
The fallout: The Bobcats are no longer winless and have a chance to begin to compete for at least third in the district.
Division II-A West
USJ (4-1, 2-0) 35,Fayette Academy (0-5, 0-2) 14
Key to the game: USJ jumped out to a 35-0 lead before Fayette Academy began scoring.
The fallout: The Bruins have won three in a row over teams they should beat before getting on the road for a big non-district game next week.
District 13-AA
Westview (5-0, 2-0) 15,Milan (3-2, 0-2) 14
Key to the game: Westview came back from 14 down at halftime to pull out the close win over a yearly rival.
The fallout: Milan has a short week to bounce back from this, hosting Christ Presbyterian Academy on Thursday. The Chargers once again played just well enough to come away with a win.
Crockett County (5-0, 2-0) 35, Dyersburg (4-1, 1-1) 21
Key to the game: The Cavaliers came up with just enough big plays to pull away to the win.
The fallout: The Cavaliers go into the bye week riding the momentum of maybe their biggest win in a few years.
South Gibson (1-4, 1-1) 34, Obion County (1-4, 0-2) 3
Key to the game: The Hornets’ defense had its best effort of the year so far.
The fallout: South Gibson gets its first win of the season while moving out of the district’s cellar.
District 14-A
Humboldt (3-1, 2-0) 27,Greenfield (2-3, 1-2) 0
Key to the game: Humboldt’s defense held Greenfield, who had scored some points earlier this season, without a point.
The fallout: Humboldt stays in the thick of the district title race with the bigger games on the schedule looming in the end.
Peabody (4-1, 2-0) 56,Lake County (2-2, 1-2) 14
Key to the game: Peabody returned to its normal self by scoring a lot of points and holding its opponent to a couple of scores.
The fallout: The Golden Tide have next week off before preparing for the second half of the season with some big district games on the horizon.
Gibson County (1-4, 1-2) 42, Halls (2-2, 0-2) 26
Key to the game: The Pioneers responded to an early deficit with a vengeance.
The fallout: Gibson County gets its first win of the season and a chance to move up in the district standings.
District 13-A
Dresden (2-3, 1-1) 26,Bruceton (3-2, 0-2) 13
Key to the game: Dresden’s defense did a good job of keeping Bruceton’s backs in check.
The fallout: Bruceton is still winless in the district after its good start to the year. Dresden has won two in a row.
Huntingdon (3-2, 2-0) 28, West Carroll (2-3, 1-1) 0
Key to the game: The Mustangs overcame a slow start to pull away to the lopsided win.
The fallout: Huntingdon continues to appear to be the team to beat in the district.
McKenzie (3-2, 2-0) 52,Gleason (2-3, 0-2) 6
Key to the game: McKenzie’s offense worked well all game, while Gleason couldn’t produce points despite moving the ball.
The fallout: The Rebels are tied for first in the district, while Gleason needs to pick up some wins in the second half of the season for a wild card spot in the playoffs.
District 13-AAA
Hardin County (3-2, 1-0) 21, Brighton (2-2, 0-1) 7
Key to the game: Brighton couldn’t stop Cal Gobbell and the rest of the Tigers’ offense.
The fallout: Hardin County puts itself in a good spot in competing for the district title after having knocked off the team that’s won it much of the past decade.
District 11-AA
Camden (5-0, 4-0) 40,Lewis Co. (3-1, 1-1) 22
Key to the game: Deshawn Brown ran for two touchdowns to be the difference on the scoreboard.
The fallout: Camden knocked off one of its main competitors for the district title.
