John Robertson led the Bruins (1-1/1-4) with 183 yards rushing and two touchdowns with Jordan Von Tagen (2) and Carson Croy (1) also earning scoring runs for Brentwood. Asher Melton would pick off a Dickson County pass and run it back for a 54-yard TD while Trace Halpern would make a 27-yard field goal to get things started in the first quarter. Just a solid effort overall for Brentwood.

"I thought we played well in all three phases," Bruins head coach Mike Woodard said after the game. "We had some things we emphasized during the week, one of them was the run game and John was running like a man possessed, but our offensive line was doing a great job of blocking for him also…Jordan Von Tagen ran well for us when we got inside the red zone, real proud of the guys."

It was clear in the first few minutes that both teams were ready to battle, with Brentwood getting a 40+ kickoff return on the opening play and then converting a 4th and 1, but Dickson County's Collier Wolcott put the breaks to the drive with a tackle for a loss.

Eventually, Halpern's 27-yard field goal would put Brentwood up at the 7:15 mark in the first quarter, but just over a minute later the Cougars fired back with DC quarterback Jacob Murphree connecting with Cayce Daniel for a 23-yard passing TD. Jacob Williams hit the PAT and Dickson Co. had the lead 7-3.

Early in the second Williams added a 28-yard field goal to stretch the Cougars lead to 10-3, but they didn't keep the momentum for long. Brentwood marched back down the field to score two touchdowns before the half – Von Tagen on a 2-yard run and Roberston on a 24-yard run.

The Bruins really hit the jets in the third with three more scoring runs. Robertson started things off with a 15-yard rushing TD. Asher Melton would then score on his 54-yard interception return and quarterback Carson Croy would score on a 21-yard keeper. The visitors were up 38-10 going into the final quarter, but Dickson County wasn't ready to throw in the towel.

Enoch William scored off a pass from DC quarterback Murphree and then earned the 2-point conversion with 7:12 on the clock. Murphree would then connect with Kincaid Lewis on a 41-yard scoring pass. Williams hit his second PAT and DC closed the gap to 25-38 with 4:53 left in the game.

But Brentwood still held the high ground and a 17-yard touchdown run at the 3:40 mark helped clinch the win for the Bruins.

"We got off to a good start. We just needed to keep punching on that start," Dickson Co. head coach Troy Williams said. "I was very proud with how we came out and we took charge. We just got to keep that tempo up for a full four quarters."
