ODOM'S BLOG: Girls' Soccer Elite 8 after Week 6

There wasn't much change this week as the districts start to shake out and seeding begins to be known for the upcoming district tournaments.

Here is the new girls' soccer Elite 8:

1. Jackson Christian (15 A-AA) (12-0-2)

– The Lady Eagles remained undefeated as they finished as the No. 1 seed in the District 15 A-AA West Division and tied their biggest rival. Results: Beat TCA 9-0; Tied USJ 1-1. Last week: No. 1.

2. USJ (Division II) (8-1-1)

– The Lady Bruins beat St. George's, the defending state champion, but couldn't keep the wins coming against Jackson Christian. Results: Beat St. George's 4-1; Tied Jackson Christian 1-1. Last week: No. 2.

3. Lexington (14 A-AA) (8-0)

– The Lady Tigers won the No. 1 seed in the District 14 A-AA South Division by beating a big rival. Results: Beat Chester County 6-1. Last week: No. 3.

4. Sacred Heart (Division II) (8-1)

– The Lady Knights continue to impress with two more wins over Division II-A competition. Results: Beat Tipton-Rosemark 10-2; Beat Harding Academy 3-1. Last week: No. 4.

5. Chester County (14 A-AA) (8-5)

– The Eaglettes took a tough loss in district play, but they responded with a win in the division to finish as the No. 2 seed. Results: Lost to Lexington 6-1; Beat McNairy Central 3-1. Last week: No. 5.

6. McNairy Central (14 A-AA) (7-3)

– The Lady Bobcats fell to the No. 3 seed in District 14 A-AA South Division with a loss to Chester County. Results: Beat Adamsville 3-1; Lost to Chester County 3-1. Last week: No. 6.

7. TCA (15 A-AA) (4-3-1)

– The Lady Lions took a tough loss to the top team in the rankings, but there are three winnable matches on the schedule this week. Results: Lost to Jackson Christian 9-0. Last week: No. 7.

8. Madison (15 A-AA) (7-6)

– The Lady Mustangs picked up three wins on the week and seem to be playing their best soccer of the year. Results: Beat South Side 3-0; Beat North Side 5-0; Beat South Gibson 1-0. Last week: Not ranked.
