Baylor won -- twice.

And all of the Red Raiders are going to compete for state golf championships next week at Willowbrook Golf Course in Manchester.

Both Baylor teams won the Division II East/Middle Region tournament Monday at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford.

The Baylor boys won with a collective 1-over-par 285, and Chase Roswall was the medalist runner-up with a 3-under 68.

The Lady Red Raiders won with an incredible 1-under 141 with sophomore Danielle Bates earning medalist honors with a 3-under 68.

"She had an outstanding round, the best round of golf for her ever," Baylor coach Gary Partrick said. "She had almost a perfect day. It was fun to watch her have fun."

Partrick's guys beat Ensworth, which topped Father Ryan in a playoff at 293, and Montgomery Bell Academy earned the last team spot.

The Girls Preparatory School team of Mary Melissa Manuel, who shot an 80, and Emily Blake, who shot an 81, will be playing for a state championship as well next week.

"We played well on 16 and had hiccups on two holes," GPS coach Rob Riddle said. "The girls were not disappointed, but they were not pleased with their results."

McCallie will not play for a state title as a team. But Chris Burkhart birdied a playoff hole against teammate Luke Hamilton to qualify the state tournament as an individual.

"That was sudden death," McCallie coach John Green said. "The young guys had some jitters. We played well. We didn't play good enough."

The Lady Raiders won the championship because Bates shot a 3-under 71 -- a 10-shot improvement from a practice round -- and Tia Teinkenpo shot a 2-over 73 at Tims Ford.

"Danielle had almost a perfect day," Partrick said. "I was hoping for a score from her that starts with a 7. It started with 6."
