McGraw invited to Army All-American Bowl

Ensworth defensive back and Alabama commit Rico McGraw has received an invitation to participate in the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the nation’s premier high school All-American game featuring 90 of the top prep players in the country.

“It’s a huge honor,” McGraw said. “Not many people get to be in this position, being able to do something like this, so it’s a huge honor for me and I’m really looking forward to it.”

McGraw, a four-star recruit according to 247Sports, has been touted as one of the top defensive backs in the state. However, he’s made his presence felt all over the field for the Tigers this season.

“He doesn’t come off the field,” Ensworth head coach Ricky Bowers said. “He’s the punt returner and kick returner. He’s a receiver on offense. Defensively he’s been at safety and corner some. He’s on the kickoff team.

“He’s a talented kid, and he can really impact every game on every play.”

McGraw has hauled in 17 receptions for 338 yards and four touchdowns this season, and he also returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown in the Tigers’ 55-7, Week 2 win over Brainerd.

The 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour will visit Ensworth on Monday, October 6, to formally select McGraw, who was No. 8 on the Tennessean’s Dandy Dozen. The event is set for 10:15 a.m.

The 6-foot, 190-pound senior, who originally committed to Georgia in mid-January, was a Tennessean first-team all-Midstate selection as a junior, totaling 29 tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups and a forced fumble for the Division II-AA champion Tigers.

The 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will be broadcast live on NBC on January 3, 2015.
