Midstate trio, Rossview girls in lead at AAA golf

Rossview’s girls were in first place in the team standings, while Hendersonville’s boys came in at second after day one of the Class AAA Golf Tournament at WillowBrook Golf Club Tuesday.

On the girls’ side, Rossview finished with a 1-under 143, which was nine strokes ahead of second-place Coffee County.

Rossview’s Reagan Greene led all individuals on the first day, shooting a 4-under 68. Coffee County’s Hollee Sadler is currently third at 72 — one stroke ahead of Independence’s Haley Smith — while Rossview’s Caroline Caudill is tied for sixth with Dobyns Bennett’s Haverly Harrold at 74.

Brentwood, led by Sara Kleine-Krachet’s 84, is seventh in the team standings at 169.

Hendersonville, which finished the first day with a 289, is four strokes behind first-place Farragut. Jacob Sherlin, who fired a 68 to lead the Commandos, is tied for the individual lead with Blackman’s Tanner Owens.

Brentwood finished day one with a 297 — good enough for third place in the team standings — and Cookeville came in fourth at 303.

Dickson County’s Jack Story is one stroke off the lead after shooting a 69, while Cookeville’s Will Brooks, Hendersonville’s Austin Lancaster and Dickson County’s Hunter Wolcott are tied for eighth at 71.

Brentwood’s Nolan Ray and Cameron Smith, along with Franklin’s Maison Felkons, are tied for 12th at 72.
