H.S. GOLF: Hardin Co.’s Webb finishes 9th

If Hardin County senior Tyler Webb was looking to leave his mark on the Class AAA golf scene his senior year, he did that on Wednesday.

Webb shot a 2-under 70 on Day 2 of the Class AAA state golf tournament at WillowBrook in Manchester.

The round was good enough to push Webb into a five-way tie for ninth place with a two-day score of 143 (73-30). That is three strokes off state champion Jacob Sherlin of Hendersonville.

An eagle and three birdies on the front nine on Day 1 carried Webb to a 1-over 73 on the first day.

Webb didn’t have an eagle on Day 2, but he did have four birdies and only one double bogey. He birdied No. 1, No. 2, No. 8 and No. 11. He birdied No. 1 and No. 2 both rounds.

On the girls’ side, Hardin County’s Taylor Alexander improved her Day 1 score by three shots on Day 2 to shoot a 109 to finish with a two-day score of 221.

She finished in 52nd place.
